For Australian backyard beekeepers
Varroa is here. Know where every hive stands.
Mites now resist some common treatments. MiteMate will remind you when each hive is due for a check, record every inspection in about a minute, and tell you what your mite count means and when to rotate treatments, so you always know which hive needs attention.
Launching by 30 November 2026. Full refund if we miss it, or if you change your mind before launch.

Try it now, free
Just done a mite wash? Check what your count means.
Enter the number of mites from one ½-cup (about 300 bee) alcohol wash. We check it against the NSW DPIRD seasonal thresholds (Primefact 13184, Sept 2026).
The MiteMate app will do this for every hive, every month, and keep the history so you can see whether a treatment is actually working.
Check again soon and plan your controls.
Thresholds per 300-bee wash: 1 March to 30 November, 1 to 4 plan and 5 or more control. December to February, 1 to 8 plan and 9 or more control. Source: NSW DPIRD Primefact 13184 (3rd ed., Sept 2026). General information only. Follow product labels and your state's rules.
How it will work
About a minute per hive to log a check.
- 1
Get a reminder
Your phone will tell you when each apiary is due for its monthly check, even with no reception.
- 2
Log the inspection
Your mite count, plus brood, queen, stores and any pests or diseases you spot. Add a photo if you like.
- 3
Know what to do
See Plan or Control for each hive and a warning before you reuse the same treatment type. Share a one-tap inspection report with your club, or export your full history if your state asks.
What it will do
Varroa first. Every hive check in one place.
Mite checks, done right
Monthly reminders, your wash count read against the official seasonal thresholds, and a clear Plan or Control for every hive.
Full hive records
Brood pattern, queen or eggs, temperament, stores and space, with a photo. About a minute per hive, even with no reception.
Record what you see
Small hive beetle, chalkbrood, wax moth and suspected foulbrood. MiteMate never diagnoses. If something must be reported, it shows who to call in your state.
Rotate, don't repeat
Every product and date logged, with a warning before you reuse the same treatment type. That matters now that resistance has been found.
Share or export in one tap
A clean report of any inspection for your club or mentor, and your full history ready if your state ever asks. Records kept for at least 3 years.
Built for Australia
Each state's rules and contacts built in, from NSW registration to Queensland's hive check records and Victoria's BeeMAX.
Why we're building this
Keeping on top of varroa shouldn't need a spreadsheet.
I'm Sean, on the Gold Coast. I'm not a beekeeper. I build simple tools, and I'm building this one with the beekeepers who'll use it. When varroa reached Queensland, I read through the official guidance: check monthly, compare your count to seasonal thresholds, rotate treatment types, keep records. That's a lot to track with a notebook in the shed, and I couldn't find a simple tool built around Australian thresholds for a backyard keeper with a few hives.
MiteMate is the simple tool I wished they had. We're building it with founding members, so if something matters to you, it goes on the list.

Questions
Why pay now for an app that isn't finished?
Founding members fund the first version and decide what goes in it. You pay A$49 instead of A$79, for as long as you stay. If we don't launch by 30 November 2026, you get every cent back.
When does the app launch?
By 30 November 2026. You'll get progress updates in the members chat along the way.
Which phones will it work on?
iPhone and Android. It runs in your phone's browser and adds to your home screen like any other app, so there's no app store download. It works on tablets and computers too.
Will it work without reception?
Yes, that's a launch requirement. Checks will save on your phone and sync when you're back in range.
Is it only for varroa?
No. Varroa is the headline, but each inspection will also record brood, queen, stores and other pests and diseases such as small hive beetle and chalkbrood. The app records what you see. It never diagnoses, and anything you must report shows who to call in your state.
Will it replace reporting to my state?
No. It will remind you when checks are due and keep your records ready. Reporting rules differ by state, and the app will show you who to contact in yours.
I only have one or two hives. Is it worth it?
Yes. A single colony still needs regular checks, and those are the keepers most likely to lose track between washes.
What if I change my mind?
Email us before launch for a full A$49 refund. After launch you can cancel whenever you like, which stops the next renewal, and keep your records.
